The trend in western science based medicine is specialization. Medical doctors specialize in their field of interest such as endocrinology, oncology, rheumatology etc. According to the famed Dr. Hiromy Shiny (MD), author of the popular book The Enzyme Factor, this is an unfortunate direction as it fails to recognize the human body as a whole, interdependent, highly complex system. Specialization tends to miss the root cause of the problem and treat only the symptom.
Integrative Medicine (IM)
Fortunately, western society recognizes this shortcoming and chooses Integrative Medicine (IM). Its aim is to re-establish a balance between our body, emotion, mind and spirit. IM makes use of various appropriate therapies also known as Complementary or Alternative Medicine, in short “CAM”. Today, CAM is often used in combination with traditional western medicine or because conventional medicine (allopathy) fails to address the illness. To avoid potential side effects, some people avoid medicine based on traditional western science altogether.
Reiki is one of the more popular CAM modalities. It is also considered one of the most effective and well researched energy healing therapies. And, as we become more aware that everything is really just a bunch of energy, energy healing could be considered as the future of healing.
Other popular CAM modalities are
– Diets such as macrobiotics and vegan
– Acupuncture, massage, Herbs
– Body works such as yoga, Qi gong and Tai chi
– Breath work such as Pranayama

Integrative Medicine Wheel
As mentioned earlier, the aim of integrative medicine is to balance the body, the conscious and subconscious mind and spirit as a whole. Reiki does just that. It balances the person’s overall being. Reiki originated in Japan and literally translates to “Rei” – Gods wisdom of higher power and “Ki” (pronounced Key) – life force. So the word Reiki means “Spiritually guided life force energy”. If one’s life force energy is low or out of balance, the person gets ill. Reiki safely and effectively balances this energy. It has been helpful in virtually every known illness and harmoniously complements other alternative or conventional medical treatments.
Reiki benefits can be grouped in three basic categories:
Emotional: Balance and stress reduction
Reiki, the spiritually guided life force energy brings about a state of peaceful tranquility and emotional harmony. This includes mood improvement and reduction of depression and anxiety. Reiki awards a sense of ease, improves self-esteem and enhances satisfaction in relationships. It improves sleep which subsequently aids the immune system and introduces us to its second benefit:
Physical: Improve the natural healing ability of our body
Deep relaxation and induction of harmony that comes with stress reduction enhances your body’s healing ability. Naturally, breathing slows down and we start to breath deeper. This in turn promotes an increase in blood flow and blood oxygenation. Oxygenation of the blood aids all things related to the heart and blood vessels (cardiovascular system): Pain relief, fat burning, blood pressure, promotion of clearer thinking, metabolism and detoxification, just to name a few. Reiki is used in hospitals around the world to accelerate and support physical healing. Specifically, people treated in hospitals commonly report improvements in the following physical areas when receiving Reiki treatments:
Accelerated surgical recovery
– No post-operative depression
– Decreased post-operative pain or leg weakness in bypass patients
– Less post-operative organ rejection in bypass patients
– Compliments recovery from substance abuse
– Improved digestive processes
– Improved over all sense of well-being
– Less side effects from chemotherapy, radiation and prescription drugs
Reiki helps you to accept your personal lessons in life and allows profound healing on a deeper level. It inspires changes in your belief systems, allows to deal with challenging life situations and increases self-awareness and intuition.
Our entire being consist on seven different bodies, the physical visible body and six subtle energy bodies. It also consist of seven major and 21 minor energy centers called chakras distributed throughout the our body. Additionally, there are energy channels. According to yogic medicine they are called nadis, in traditional Chinese medicine they are called meridians. The energy that flows through the subtle bodies, the chakras and the nadis is called life force energy or Qi/Chi (Chinese), Prana (Indian) and Ki (Japanese). In order to remain healthy, the energy flow between these systems must remain freely open and unblocked. Painful physical and emotional life experiences can cause restrictions and disruptions which ultimately leading to health problems. Reiki works by channeling life force energy through the affected parts of physical and subtle bodies charging them with energy.
As Reiki transcends the illusion of time and space, distance Reiki treatments are just as effective as local sessions.
Scientific evidence (1) and (2) answered the question IF distant healing works but nobody really understands HOW and WHY it works (3). This is mainly because we try to explain the etheric, metaphysical realm by applying the laws our three dimensional physical world. Reiki energy resides in higher dimensions. Planes not bound to the laws of physics and the illusions of time and space. This of course means that Reiki does not source from the local brain. By quieting the mind into a meditative state, the Egoic physical world starts to blur into a union with the non-physical, universal consciousness, the source of Reiki. Depending on the depth of the meditative state and practice of the healer, real emotional and actual physical healing can be achieved. Reserve your distant Reiki healing session here.

They say that the teacher will appear when the student is ready…
Almost a decade ago, I was led to Reiki. I signed up for levels I, II and the Advanced class. My teacher was a licensed senior Reiki Shihan (Teacher) registered by the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). Only 3rd in lineage of the Reiki’s founder Mikao Usui with well over 1000 hours of documented Reiki experience, I figured she’ll do the job :-). At first I was fully engaged and practiced Reiki every day. I gave Reiki to just about everything: My friends, family, animals, plants, food, planet earth, future and past situations. I bought a massage table and used it as a Reiki bed, subscribed to William Rand’s Reiki magazine and participated in his powerful World Peace Meditations. During that time, I remember experiencing some tangible health improvements with friends and family and even some, what I consider “mind bugling” things. Over time however, my enthusiasm for Reiki ebbed away and other seemingly more important things took over again.
A few years later, my mother started suffering from severe body pain. As the symptom persisted, she consulted many doctors, underwent countless tests and tried to find both allopathic and holistic relief. However, the medical establishment was not able to give her a clear diagnose. Wanting to help her, I started researching spending hours on Dr. Google. Meaning well, I gave her all kinds nutritional and supplemental advice but, without a proper diagnose, nothing really helped. At my wits end I needed to start thinking “outside the box” and I suggested to try a long distance Reiki session “just for the fun”, I said, “remember, it seemed to have worked in the past”. Mom agreed and we started. During the treatments she felt the usual heaviness and deep, peaceful tranquility that one can feel during a Reiki session. The next day she skyped me excitedly and reported that she slept like a baby and did not suffer the usual pain. Motivated by the success, we continued the treatments for some time and about two weeks into the routine, the pain simply seem to have vanished. I am not sure if Reiki ‘cured’ my mother. However, I consider her as my teacher to show me the way back to Reiki. In Reiki I find peace and a sense of purpose as it enables me to help people from all walks of life. I would be delighted to give you a local session or contact me for a remote treatment and let me know how you feel afterwards!
